Things to do with your baby
Once you have your new baby and are comfortable with the idea of venturing out of the house together, you may want to meet other parents and try out some baby groups.
Here, I round up a few examples of the kind of groups you could try out.
But, if you find that baby groups aren't for you, don't worry! As a new parent, there are lots of things you can try and baby groups aren't for everyone.
Visit local baby groups and seek out the types of groups you think you will actually enjoy. If sitting in a room full of toys, drinking coffee is your thing then go for it.
If a calming baby massage class is more up your street then great, but don't settle. While the activity is intended to be fun for your baby, it's also important that it's fun for you!
Don't settle for something you don't enjoy yourself. If you simply don't like a group for whatever reason, you don't have to go back. We are all human after all and don't click with every person we meet or place we visit.
Uninterrupted bonding time together with your baby
Once you've sourced out your favourite groups - whether it be a dance class, singing group, sling library or just your usual park - go and hang out with your little one and embrace your surroundings. Enjoy that bit of uninterrupted bonding time together.
These are places where you can meet up and gather information about safely carrying/baby wearing. Think less baby playing and plastic toys and more adults swapping advice and info on the latest slings or carries.
Baby Massage classes
These are usually calm rooms where you can be taught by a practitioner how to calm and soothe your baby, all the while bonding and spending some quiet time together away from the home. Baby massage also has lots of benefits including for digestion and circulation.
These are typically toy-filled rooms allowing free play, snacks and singing with usually a bit of craft thrown in for good measure.
These start calm whilst babies are young and progressively get more energetic as your little one does. Kids learn to sing and dance to music and songs.
Despite there being a wide variety of baby groups in the local area, if you have tried groups and found that it's just not your thing, don't let others make you feel guilty for that. Enjoy quality time with your baby in the way you want to.
